Homemade Pizza and Microgreens

Homemade Pizza and Microgreens

A friend recently bought us a pizza stone as a housewarming gift. Have you ever used one before? What a gift! See ya later, takeout! Anything that get's my wife and I into the kitchen together, sharing love over food and slow time together...especially over pizza!...is one heck of a gift in my opinion. I had some beautiful purple basil microgreens growing at the farm and knew exactly how we would use them.

The idea that these supergreens can only be used in green smoothies, salads or healthy soups is so boring to me. The food we eat is an expression of who we are. We have this body and life to live where the food we use to fuel it will fuel our soul and our expression of what we feel. Sometimes I'm feeling pizza, sometimes I'm salad, but at the end of the day, if we take the time to slow down and cook a meal together, that's one of the healthiest things we can do for ourselves and loved ones.

If you're just getting started eating real food or if you're a certified health nut, adding anything homegrown to your meal will deepen your experience with it. Maybe Friday pizza pie day needs to be a thing, maybe I need to keep harvesting that purple basil. One thing is for sure, microgreens added to a dish, not bought from California or Florida or Mexico, but harvested right at home, brings so much soul into the meal. Be it pizza or tacos or burgers or even, yes, green smoothies.
